NBA: Innovate the Future

I learned a TON through this opportunity, and use many of the lessons I learned through building this product as a teachable moment to the students I coach on Product Design Thinking.

Challenge

The NBA isn’t just played in the U.S., it has fans everywhere. While the league’s reach is global, the experience for international fans often feels one size fits all. We set out to imagine what it would look like if fans in other countries could interact with the NBA in a way that felt like it was built just for them.

Solution

We designed and prototyped “NBA World,” a mobile app that adapts to each region it serves. The experience included localized content, geo-specific merchandise, and a custom UI for each market. Every element was tailored to reflect local culture and fan behavior, creating a product that feels familiar yet unique no matter where in the world you open it.

Outcome

While I didn't take the ring in the playoffs on this one, the real win for me was getting hands-on with designing for a truly global audience, learning how culture shapes product expectations, and turning that insight into a personalized experience for fans around the world.
